Immigration Canada (IRCC) launched the Express Entry Program in January 2015, and it has become the main way for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada. This program is fully online and helps choose qualified candidates for immigration.
How does it work?
To start, applicants must meet eligibility criteria and submit an online profile called an Expression of Interest (EOI) for one of the three federal immigration programs.
The profiles are entered into the Express Entry Pool and ranked using a points system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Those who receive an ITA have 90 days to submit a complete application and pay the fees. The government aims to process these applications within six months.
